Our Coding Automation Tool extracts text from any medical documents and immediately converts such text into any billing-ready format (with ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, RXNORM, SNOWMED and other codes inserted) at a high degree of accuracy. It then generates DRG code based on all found procedures and diagnoses.
This has tremendous benefits for the medical practice or hospital. Billing and coding time is lowered considerably and accuracy in claim submissions is markedly improved through the automation of this process, accelerating the claim turnaround time and ultimately, the revenue cycle. Of near or equal importance, compliance with HIPAA's meaningful use requirements increases as well, as the presentation of processed data is made through an organized, structured form.

ICD9 vs. ICD10

Transition into ICD-10 presents a serious challenge to medical organizations. Not only because number of codes grew from about 13,000 in ICD-9 to over 68,000 in ICD-10, but also because the terminology has been modernized, because there has been a significant increase in the specificity of the reporting, because of addition of codes that are a combination of diagnoses and symptoms and because there is no clear mapping between ICD-9 and ICD-10.
Our Coding Automation Tool solves the complex issue of transitioning from ICD-9 into ICD-10 by providing BOTH codes for every diagnosis found within the medical document. In addition, it provides the description of each code according to ICD standards, and it is also capable of generating a list of alternatives.

Through a combination of proprietary data mining technologies (DMT) and natural language understanding technologies (NLU), the coding automation tool has the capability to extract text and sections of text from any medical document through DMT, isolating elements such as drug names, procedures, diagnosis, disorders, etc. Each element is then verified with our comprehensive database and presented in a form that is easy to read by coders and billers.
The output text can be returned in several ways. For example, tags (highlighted text) are added to the document. Or, all elements are separated, compiled and presented back in a separate spreadsheet file. Finally, CDA files compatible for importing directly into an EMR can be generated.

Coding Automation Tool is installed on premises of medical organization. It is a worry-free product when it comes to PHI because original documents are not recorded outside of medical organization.
Coding Automation Tool is simple-to-install and simple-to-use solution that compatible with any version of Microsoft Windows and has no special requirements to hardware, software or network configuration.
